Okey 101 Rules

The rules of 101 Okey: opening, finishing, scoring and penalties.

Last updated: 28 October 2026 3 min read

At Casino xBet, 101 Okey is played at tables of 2–4 players, over 1 or 2 hands. Below you can find the rules of the game as they are applied on the site.

Table and start

  • When the table is full, the game starts automatically within 10 seconds.
  • The starting player is dealt 22 tiles, the other players 21. In the first turn the starting player discards a tile without drawing.
  • The tile one number higher than the indicator tile is the okey (joker) of that hand. The okey can be used in place of any tile.
  • You have 30 seconds for each move. If the time runs out, your turn is played automatically.

Opening your hand

  • Opening with runs: You can open your hand with runs of at least 3 consecutive tiles of the same colour and groups of the same number in different colours, worth at least 101 points in total.
  • Opening with pairs: You can open your hand with at least 5 pairs.
  • A player who has opened can add tiles to the sets on the table in later turns.
  • If you finish by laying down your whole hand at once as your first opening (finishing from the hand), the 101-point requirement does not apply.
  • Except when finishing, you must always keep at least one tile in your hand to discard. If needed, you can take your tiles back with "Collect Back" and arrange them again.

Score of the player who finishes

  • Opened with runs and finished: -101
  • Opened with runs and finished by discarding the okey: -202
  • Opened with pairs and finished: -202
  • Opened with pairs and finished by discarding the okey: -404
What counts is the player's first opening. A player who opened with runs and later laid down pairs counts as having "opened with runs".

Score of the other players

  • A player who opened with runs: the total of the tiles left in their hand.
  • A player who opened with pairs: twice the total of the tiles left in their hand.
  • A player who has not opened: 202 points.
  • An okey tile left in the hand counts as 101 points.

Penalties

  • Discarding a tile that could be added to a set on the table: 101 penalty points.
  • Taking back more than 3 tiles from the table after opening: 101 penalty points.

Match result and chips

  • The player with the lowest total score wins the match.
  • At the start of the match, 10% of the table stake is taken from each player as the table fee.
  • The player who loses the match loses 90% of the stake. A player who leaves the table before the game ends is counted as having lost.

Fair play

  • Sitting at the same table from the same network or the same device is blocked.
  • Accounts found cheating, abusing the system or disturbing other players may be closed.
